SGC Meeting - September
The School Governance Council met on Sept. 14.
The School Governance Council met on September 14, 2021. Mr. Downey shared the district’s new matrix that will guide COVID mitigation efforts. Although COVID numbers in Johns Creek appear to have leveled off, we will continue to follow a mask mandate. Our goal is to continue our full face-to-face instruction.
The second update was regarding administration of spring final exams.
The leadership team is currently working on a plan regarding final exams in May 2022.
The SGC brainstormed several ideas on how to invest Charter Funds back into the school. Some of the ideas shared included the creation of an outdoor learning space, setting up a “Social/Emotional Center” with a full-time nurse, and enhancing COVID mitigation strategies.
Eventually the Council decided to open up the discussion to staff and students, allowing teachers to submit grant proposals as they have done in the past.
This year, the Council will also allow students to submit requests for funding.
Teachers and students will receive a “mini-grant” packet in the coming weeks so that they can submit requests.
At the October SGC meeting, the Council will review all requests and decide the best way to use these funds.
Mr. Downey reminded the Council that these funds need to be spent by June 2022.
The next meeting will be in Oct. 2021.
