FCBOE Board Meeting - October
The Fulton County Board of Education met for their monthly board meeting at 6 p.m. on Oct. 19, 2023.
District 5 Board member Kristin McCabe covers her district’s recent accomplishments.
River Trail Middle School’s Clarinet Quintet was selected to perform at the “Music for All” National Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana. They are 1 of 15 groups that were selected.
Johns Creek High School's marching band was named Grand Champions at the Pridelands marching contest.
She congratulates Taylor Road Middle School’s cross country team, who won first place in the categories of team champions, JV boys, JV girls, Varsity girls, Varsity boys, and in 3 individual events.
McCabe gives a shoutout to National School Lunch Week and has served lunch at 4 of her schools. She commends the cleanliness and affordability of her school’s lunches.
Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney begins his report by thanking Fulton County Schools (FCS) employees, students, and families. Dr. Looney reports that Fulton County has the highest graduation rate in the Fulton County District.
Dr. Looney thanks the school buys drivers and aides for their work and asks the community to help enforce safety on school buses.
CSI/TSI Update Zone Superintendent Dr. Cherisse Campbell presents an update about the district’s Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) and Targeted Support Improvement (TSI) schools.
Dr. Campbell lists five traditional schools on the state-identified list. Dr. Campbell mentions that College Park Elementary School is classified as a Tier IV CSI school, and the other four schools (Bear Creek Middle School, Hamilton E. Holmes Elementary School, Love T. Nolan Elementary School, and Tri-Cities High School) are targeted support schools based on their 2021-22 Georgia Milestones results.
Dr. Campbell moves on to closed action statements.
