FCBOE Work Session - August

The Fulton County Board of Education met for their monthly work session at 3 p.m. on Aug. 12, 2021.
  • Superintendent Mike Looney discusses sick leave banks for employees.

    •  If employees test positive, they will have to take sick leave. Looney visited several middle and high schools in the past week and saw that students and teachers have been engaged in the classroom.

  • Northview, along with other high schools, is requesting to expand its public health program to focus on epidemiology. This is part of a CTAE program that aims to expand career pathways for students.

  • The Fulton County Board of Education will begin the construction of new additions at Northview High School and Milton High School. The Northview High School additions include renovations to the fitness lab, black box, and art lab, as well as replacements for the fire alarm and intercom systems.

  • District 6 Board Member Kimberly Dove explains that Fulton County will use SPLOST funds to purchase new devices for Fulton County students. She extends the board’s gratitude for the taxpayers’ continued support.

  • Around 5:10pm, protestors convened outside of the meeting room, chanting “No more masks”. While no protestors made it inside the room, their voices could be heard through the livestream.
