FCBOE June Meeting
The Fulton County Board of Education held their monthly board meeting at 6 p.m. on June 17, 2021.
Meeting is called to order.
Mr. Ron Wade leads the board through the pledge of allegiance
Dr. Mike Looney introduces Dr. Cliff Jones, who proceeds to present student recognitions.
Fulton County Schools have had a successful year despite the pandemic.
The Board welcomes public comments, which are not aired publicly.
The meeting resumes, and district board members proceed to acknowledge academic, artistic, and athletic achievement of students and organizations of their respective schools.
District 5 Board Member Linda McCain discusses a gala held for the SUMMIT organization held on Saturday night to fundraise.
The meeting moves to address board matters.
The staff of Superintendent Looney introduces an update to the district’s bridge plan to a safe return to in-person instruction.
Every Child Reads will introduceb the five pillars of reading and vocabulary
It will focus on the core content that the superintendent values.
Dr. Looney reads the motion statement.
Chief Financial Officer Marvin Dereef is called to the podium, and addresses budget and contracting reports.
Dereef announce projected adjustments according to budget:
the first adjustment willl regard custodial services for innovation academy
the second adjustment regarding musical instruments, existing schools not new schools
the third adjustment adds a contract regarding the renewal for custodial services for a certain school.
The board moves pass the motion, and Dereef continues to report updates on budget adjustments.
The board moves to vote on other budget adjustments, including that regarding school devices for exceptional children.
The next board meeting is confirmed to beheld on July 13.
