FCBOE Board Meeting - September

The Fulton County Board of Education met for their monthly board meeting on Sept. 21, 2023.
  • On September 30 SR2 act will be closed. In this act this funding helped FCS charter schools, district utilities, online school learning, summer learning, etc. 

  • (Mr. Crotsley, River Trail’s assistant principal, is a key to the summer learning program.)

  • 22 schools in Georgia have been recognized for their literacy development as well as new literacy programs that were funded by the government. (Superintendent’s Report)

  • Motions passed on school- land funding/construction (3 motions carried.

    Discussion items: 

    • School year calendar parameters have been passed, these parameters show how teacher-work day have been embedded and the possibility of extending the day time of the amount instruction tp keep the teacher-work day/professional day times. 

    • Concern among our administrators to keep the professional work days and teacher work days, trying to make a week off in the fall. (like fall break) 

    • Parents are concerned about learning loss and planning test and instruction days so planning around calendar is a difficult decision.
